Hostages
1:11:11
Kan 11 | We followed for over a year the families of three female lookouts who were abducted on October 7th from the Nachal Oz outpost:
Daniela Gilboa, 19, from Petah Tikva
Karina Aryev, 19, from Jerusalem, who were best friends and served together for eight months
Liri Elbag, 19, from Moshav Yarchiv, who was kidnapped along with them
Liri had completed the lookout training course just three days before October 7th. She had arrived at the base for the first time for orientation and was abducted on that Saturday. Along with them, Naama Levy was also kidnapped and later released. Another lookout, Agam Berger, returned home on January 30, 2025.
This is the first time in Israel’s history that female IDF soldiers have been abducted.
"Kidnapped" is a harrowing and powerful film that follows, step by step, the events and the psychological and emotional state of the hostages' families. It provides an unprecedented look at their struggles and the resilience forced upon them. The film highlights the immense strength of the parents—mothers and fathers—facing unimaginable turmoil and hardship.
The families have been fighting for over a year for their daughters' release:
The Elbag family – Shira and Eli, along with Liri’s older sisters, Roni and Shay. The Elbag family were the first to settle in Kirya, protest, demonstrate, and refuse to relent.
Orly Gilboa, a lionhearted mother, fought for her daughter using every means available, with the support of her husband, Ran.
The Aryev family – parents Albert and Ira, and Karina’s older sister Sasha, a quiet family unaccustomed to protest, did everything in their power to bring Karina home.
Three families, fighting shoulder to shoulder—under the watchful eye of the cameras—in the hardest battle of their lives and their daughters’ lives.
The film concludes with their return. Director Noa Aharoni follows the three families with anticipation through the critical moments leading up to the deal’s finalization, until Liri Elbag, Daniela Gilboa, and Karina Aryev, along with Naama Levy, are finally embraced by their mothers and reunited with their beloved families.
Director Noa Aharoni also created the film "No One’s Soldiers", which documented three families of female lookouts from Nachal Oz who were murdered on October 7th: Yael Leibushar, Roni Eshel, and Noa Marciano, who was killed in captivity.

The Man Who Tried to Prevent War: Levi Eshkol’s Efforts to Avert the Six-Day War
53:43
The Decision-Making Process Before the Six-Day War and Prime Minister Levi Eshkol's Attempts to Prevent the Conflict
Between June 5 and 10, 1967, Israel decisively defeated the armies of Egypt, Syria, and Jordan, capturing the Sinai Peninsula, the Golan Heights, and the West Bank. On June 19, 1967, the Israeli government offered to return the territories in exchange for full peace. However, the response from the Arab states, delivered at the Khartoum Arab League Summit in August 1967, was clear: "No recognition, no peace, no negotiations." These "Three No's" reinforced the position of the right-wing and settlement supporters in Israel's political landscape.
Levi Eshkol, who passed away in 1969, was not fully recognized for his immense contribution to building Israel's military and ensuring victory in June 1967 until after his death. The war claimed the lives of 790 Israeli soldiers and left 2,500 wounded.
This film is dedicated to Ilan Ganani and all the fallen soldiers of the IDF who gave their lives in the Six-Day War. (The film is based on real events, though it should not be considered an exact reconstruction of the events and characters depicted).
